Area Developments - S.C.O.O.T.
To assist in meeting the demands of the ever-increasing traffic in the area surrounding the Orange County Convention Center, County Commissioners have approved funding for a synchronization of traffic lights in Downtown Orange County.

Dubbed S.C.O.O.T. - split-cycle offset optimization technique - the system allows traffic signals in the Downtown Orange County (I-Drive) area to reprogram their cycles based on real-time traffic and roadway conditions. Since 2002, Orange County has installed S.C.O.O.T. at 26 locations in the Downtown Orange County/I-Drive area and it still plans to install an additional 14 more.
